NOTE: Month of April to approximately May 4th only larviciding (treatment of standing water) requests will be taken.
After approximately May 4th until approximately October 1st larviciding and adulticiding (yard spraying) requests will be taken.
Certain areas of the county experience more of a nuisance from mosquitoes at times throughout the year. Some residences are also set back far from the road so that our regular truck routes are not effective at reducing mosquito populations in the area of human- insect interaction. To deal with this problem, our program has portable thermal foggers to control adult mosquitoes. This treatment is performed in areas that have nearby vegetation or woodlots to help contain the fog. Technicians also check for and treat aquatic habitat that can produce mosquitoes. This habitat varies greatly and some types are of more concern at different times of the year. For more information about this look under biology.
Residents are encouraged to call the office and request larviciding treatment on their property throughout the season. By treating mosquito larvae and pupae while they are still in the standing water the number of biting adult mosquitoes are greatly reduced.
Yard Spraying is only a contact spray and does not keep mosquitoes from entering the area treated after the spray or fog dissipates. We recommend that citizens use these requests when they are having an event such as a picnic, family reunion, or wedding when it will benefit them most. We would apppreciate a two weeks notice before the specific date of your event.
You may have your residence property treated if necessary by completing the following form.
