Vanderbilt Park Rules and Regulations
The Tuscola County Parks & Recreation Commission reserves the right to have anyone removed from the Park if they violate any of these rules and regulations. A person who violates these rules or regulations is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment and/or a fine.
- All campers are assigned one site; any changes must be approved by the Park Host.
- Quiet hours must be observed between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
- Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 1:00 p.m. on the date of expiration of the camping permit. If a camper wishes to remain after this time, they must re register with payment due immediately.
- A current camp permit must be displayed in the window or door of the camping unit.
- It shall be unlawful to install permanent type structures of any kind on campsite, including porches, patios, walks or storage sheds.
- A campsite shall be occupied by not more than eight (8) persons; only one recreational vehicle and a tent, or two tents.
- Each camper is required to keep their campsite clean at all times. Storage (e.g., household goods, furniture, car parts, etc.) is prohibited around or under any camping unit.
- NO parking is permitted on the streets. Two vehicles per site are allowed; additional parking is available in front of the pavilion.
- It shall be unlawful to remove, deface or to injure any building, property, trees or vegetation.
- All refuse and garbage is to be placed in receptacles provided for that purpose. It shall be unlawful to place household refuse of any kind in Park receptacles by person(s) not registered at the Park or using the Park's picnic area.
- Campfires are permitted in designated fire rings or grills only.
- Before any household pets are allowed in the Park; proof of current license and rabies shot must be shown. They must be securely tied with a 6' (or shorter) leash at all times.
- Drunkenness, profanity, fighting, indecent exposure of any person(s) or other disorderly conduct is prohibited.
- Pavilion registration fee ($25.00) is required by all groups who wish to reserve the pavilion. Reservations shall be for not more than one year in advance. All reservations are non-refundable.
- The use of loud speakers or public address systems is prohibited except with the written permission of an authorized representative of the Tuscola County Parks & Recreation Commission.
- Parks, or portions thereof, may be closed entirely or to certain uses as may be determined by the Tuscola County Parks & Recreation Commission or their authorized representative. During such hours it shall be unlawful to enter or to occupy such closed areas contrary to posted regulations.
- Riding of horses is prohibited in the Park area including any roads within the Park.
- NO firewood allowed from outside the county. Firewood is available for purchase from the Park Host.
- NO washing of any vehicle while camping or visiting the Park.
- NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK--PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
- ALL children under 18 must be back to their campsite by 10 P.M. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- ALL children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
- Speed limit for all vehicles is 10 miles per hour. Motor vehicles (including motorcycles and ORVs) are not permitted on picnic grounds, playground, nature area, nor any other area posted against such use.
- Owners must also clean up pet droppings. (Limit: two per site)
- NO HUNTING in the county park.
Preparing for Your Vanderbilt County Park & Campground Visit
- To ensure an enjoyable and safe trip, please review the tidbits below as you prepare for your visit to Vanderbilt County Park & Campground.
- Bring your own drinking water ... water is available, but not recommended for drinking since it contains a safe but above average level of salt.
- Disposal of black and gray water is the responsibility of the camper since there are no onsite means of disposal.
- Restrooms are available with rustic toilets. No running water is available in the restrooms.
- NO FIREWOOD ALLOWED FROM OUTSIDE THE COUNTY. Firewood will be available for purchase from the Park Host. Please understand this policy is in place to protect Michigan's natural resources and beauty, and to prevent the spread of invasive disease or pest among the natural habitat.
- Remember your mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
- Grills and fire rings are available for use. Please follow proper safety methods and use caution.
- Campers - don't forget your power/extension cords and levelers. Also, please be advised there are NO pull thru sites.
- Boaters - launches are available within a 5 minute drive.
- In case of emergency, please contact the Park Host or dial 911.
