Energizing Tuscola’s Economy Through Entrepreneurship

Tuscola County Directory

Goals and Objectives

The goals of this project clearly center on the creation of local jobs for the betterment of county residents. These can be effectively measured through existing techniques of tracking new businesses and new jobs. However, there are other intangible goals and benefits to Enterprise Facilitation ®. By working intensively with a Facilitator, entrepreneurs will have a higher likelihood of avoiding unsuccessful ventures by drawing their own informed conclusions, rather than by costly trial and error. A pitfall avoided is just as valuable, in countless ways, as a new job created.

As for measurable results, the Entrepreneurship Task Force anticipates the following returns on investments for the three year project period:

Measurement Of results

Evaluation of the project on an ongoing basis will be possible through monthly reports prepared by the Enterprise Facilitator for the Board of Management and its investors.

As indicated in the Tuscola County Economic Development Plan, the proposed project is consistent with and does not duplicate activities included in the plan. The Tuscola County Economic Development Plan was adopted by the EDC Board of Directors in July of 1997. The plan is reviewed on an annual basis by the EDC Board, and any modifications needed are acted upon and implemented during the following year. The EDC acknowledges that small business counseling is considered one of the best ways to help local entrepreneurs start local businesses which tend to stay in the local area, and not to relocate several times in the future.
