The Friend of the Court will collect child support only if there is an order to do so. That means that a judge MUST sign a court order.
- If there is a case already open in TUSCOLA COUNTY between you and the father/mother of the child(ren), then to have support ordered you will need to file a petition. Petitions are available at the Friend of the Court office or on line at www.tuscolacounty.org. Once you have entered the website, please click on Friend of the Court, and then forms. If you have questions concerning use of the website, please call the number listed at the bottom of this page.
- If there is a case already open in ANOTHER COUNTY in the State of Michigan between you and the father/mother of the child(ren), then you will need to file a petition in that county. Contact the Friend of the Court in that county for petitions
- If there is a case already open in ANOTHER STATE between you and the father/mother of the child(ren), then you will need to contact that state to assist you in collecting support. If you want to have the support order brought to TUSCOLA COUNTY, you will need to contact the Office of Child Support by faxing a letter to (517) 241-0844 or mail to the address listed below.
If there is NOT a case already open between you and the father/mother of the child(ren), then you will need to complete the attached child support application. Upon completion you will need to either fax it to the Office of Child Support at (517) 241-0844 or mail it to:

The Office of Child Support will assign a support specialist to your case and make a referral to the Tuscola County Prosecutor who will file a complaint with the courts on your behalf
